100% Pure Honey
Our honey is 100% pure, raw honey; never pasteurized or high-pressure filtered. We are committed to producing the finest quality local honey.
Our honey is collected and processed in the farmhouse kitchen, using a stainless steel radial extractor. We uncap the frames, spin out the honey which collects in a large stainless steel vat. The only filtration that is done is a cursory screen filter, which is covered in a cheesecloth filter. These are used to keep rogue wax pieces and propolis (bee glue) out of the honey. This results in pure, raw, unheated and unadulterated honey.
All the hives are placed close to natural fresh spring water sources. To us, the honey they produce is representative of everything that is good in our communities especially since it most likely contains a tiny part of the gardens, flowers and trees of all our friends, family and neighbors for miles around!
We use only natural traps and control measures to address hive pests, which are an unfortunate constant in all hives. Like we do with our cattle, we strive to maintain the best environment for our honey bees. Since we are also in the cattle business the variety of clovers in our pastures is a natural for bees to harvest nectar from.
How Did We Get Started with Honey?
Realizing there is no time like the present, she dove into it with gusto back in 2008. She began by reading everything she could get her hands on, attended local bee clubs, the finally purchased what was needed to assemble the first four complete hives. Debra continues to be endlessly fascinated by the habits and actions of bees within a hive.
Can I Buy SVF Pure Honey?
Due to the incredible demand, SVF Pure Honey is often pre-sold by the time it is harvested. The expansion of hives has started to improve our supply of honey
We currently have about 35 hives, with plans to add additional hives every Spring. We build our own boxes, frames, stands and covers during the winter months when there is very little that needs to be done in the bee yard. We have been phasing-in our beekeeping operation at a manageable pace, allowing us to balance beekeeping with our cattle operation and hay baling needs.
We sincerely appreciate your continuing interest and patience as we scale-up our honey operation. Feel free to send a message via the Contact page if you would like to be notified when our honey is available for sale.
